"Happenin' All Over again" is a song written and produced by Stock Aitken & Waterman for American vocalizer Lonnie Gordon's offset anthology, If I Take to Stand up Lonely (1990). Information technology was released as the album's second single on Jan 15, 1990, and reached No. 4 on the UK Singles Chart. The vocal mixed Stock Aitken & Waterman'south Europop audio with the blooming Italo business firm music which was becoming big in the United kingdom charts at the time. This 1990 version was never released in the U.s..
The song had been originally written for Donna Summertime, but due to a falling-out with the producers, she never recorded information technology. Instead, it was given to Gordon.[2] The Stock, Aitken & Waterman version was mixed past Phil Harding.
A different version of the song was included on Gordon'due south 1993 anthology Bad Mood. This version was released as a U.S. single in 1993 and peaked at No. 98 on the Billboard Hot 100 nautical chart,[3] and besides striking No. 1 on the U.Southward. Dance nautical chart.[4] In 1998, Gordon recorded the song for a 2d time and released it as a single.
Critical reception [edit]
Larry Flick from Billboard complimented the song, noting that Gordon's "fierce, sweet'n'sour performance is diva-supreme."[5] David Giles from Music Week chosen information technology an "outstanding pop/disco record", adding that "information technology betrays a healthy obsession with Seventies dance music correct down to the very "showbizzy" chord changes."[6] The magazine besides said it's "1 of the twelvemonth'due south finest songs" and put information technology at number half-dozen in their Elevation 10 list, "Option of the Yr - Mainstream Singles".[7] William Shaw from Smash Hits wrote that "information technology's one of those unstoppable thumping rhythms with a gloriously loud tune belted out over the top by the formidable Ms Gordon." British magazine Classic Pop ranked it number 22 in their list of "Meridian 40 Stock Aitken Waterman songs" in 2021. They wrote, "On a vocal originally intended for Donna Summer, phasing arpeggios were the order of the day in the PWL studio for Happenin' All Once more, soon to go the sophomore unmarried from Lonnie Gordon's debut album If I Take to Stand Alone. Mixed by Phil Harding, those Italo house influences are evident amid the Euro dance-pop aura, leading to a well-earned Top 5 UK hitting. Subsequently on, in 1998, Coronation Street 's Tracy Shaw had a crack at it and clawed her way to No.46 (best forgotten)."[9]

Australian girl group Young Divas covered "Happenin' All Over Over again" for their self-titled debut album Young Divas. It was produced by George Papapetros and Max Kourilov, and released as the second single from the album on November 11, 2006.[25] The song peaked at number 9 on the ARIA Singles Nautical chart and was certified gold by the Australian Recording Industry Clan (ARIA), for shipments of 35,000 copies. The music video for "Happenin' All Once again" features the Young Divas singing and dancing in front of a white backdrop.[26]

In mid-1998, old Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw released a embrace version of "Happenin' All Over Again" that reached number 46 on the Great britain Singles Chart. Her grapheme Maxine Heavey also sang it in the Coronation Street special "Viva Las Vegas".
